Do you play in hot, cold, rain, or other weather conditions? What do you follow?

FAQ image

Yes, but with safety in mind. Here's how we make weather decisions: ☀️ Summer Heat Index Guidelines: 80°–90°: We play as scheduled. 90°–105°: We play but increase water and rest breaks. 106° and above: We do not play. ❄️ Winter Wind Chill Guidelines: Below 25° (Feels Like): We do not play. 🌧 Rain & Storm Guidelines: We do play in light rain and passing showers if temperatures are above 50° and the fields are safe. We do not play during thunderstorms. Play is paused at the first sound of thunder and resumes 20 minutes after the last sound. We do not play in heavy rain, unsafe field conditions, or storms. How do we decide? Because we serve locations across the Philadelphia region, we follow National Weather Service forecasts and trusted local news reports. Conditions can vary by neighborhood, and while our decisions aim to be proactive, weather can change quickly. Fun Fact: Some of our most memorable sessions happen on light rainy days — kids often love it!

How do I know if a session is postponed due to weather?

FAQ image

We try our best to make a decision at least 90 minutes in advance of your class if we postpone due to weather. In the case of inclement weather, Soccer Shots will notify you of any postponements by text, email, and a post on social media. If you don’t hear from us on the day of class, expect that we are planning to play. Once coaches go to the field, they are given the ability to make a call from the field if the weather turns poor.

Where can my child play?

FAQ image

Soccer Shots is held at Childcare Centers, Elementary Schools, and Public locations throughout the city of Philadelphia! Our public programs are open to all families and are designed to be local and convenient with a neighborhood vibe. Our school partnerships serve students who are members of the school at a particular location and these classes happen during the school day or directly before or after the school day.

What is your policy for weather-related makeup sessions?

FAQ image

We schedule one makeup date into our permits for each season and use this in the case of inclement weather (rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold). If we have more than one inclement weather day, we will make every effort to offer additional value with longer sessions for the remainder of the season. We cannot guarentee additional days beyond our one rain make up date, but additional makeup classes may be held on a different day or time than the regularly scheduled class. If a makeup is postponed due to weather, it will not be rescheduled.

What type of equipment will my child need to participate?

FAQ image

Soccer Shots provides all of the equipment needed at each of our sessions. Your child should wear activity-appropriate clothing. Cleats and shin guards are NOT necessary and many park spaces ask us not to encourage them for field preservation.

How do I know the locations of the park programs?

FAQ image

To find public programs in your area, select Enroll Now at the top of this page, use the search bar to search by zip code, age, day of the week, or name of site!

Can I have Soccer Shots start a park program near me?

FAQ image

Yes! We are always willing to start a public program near you. The easiest way for this to happen is for you to form a group of 6-10 children willing to take part in a Soccer Shots season. These could be children from your neighborhood, school, friends from church or synagogue, or your parent groups. We're happy to help talk through ideas on how to make this happen. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information.

What can I expect from a Soccer Shots session?

FAQ image

Our weekly 30-40 minute sessions focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. Through fun games and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork and determination! It's fun! It's safe! It's learning! It's social! It's age appropriate!

How do you handle enrollment for children on the cusp of the next age group?

FAQ image

If your child is turning 2 within a month of the start of the season, we will say yes to joining the Mini as Mini starts with parent assistance at parks! If your child is turning 3 within a month of the start of the season and you wish to play Classic (for 3-4 yos), contact us to discuss the differences between Mini and Classic for your child's developmental readiness (parents are on the sideline for these classes). If your child is 4 and is ready for a lightly competitive class, we encourage you to try out Classic+ which emphasizes more scrimmage or match time within our class structure.

What is your reimbursement policy?

FAQ image

Soccer Shots Philly does not offer refunds. Account credits may be offered only if sessions are canceled due to federal, state or local governance limitations/restrictions. No compensation will be issued for failure to attend a makeup session or failure to attend a non-cancelled session. Credits will not be issued after the date of the final session. Again, refunds are not offered. If you feel that you have a situation that would warrant an exception, please contact us by email at [email protected]. There is no refund of the annual enrollment fee. If a policy exception is made, refunds will require a $15 refund processing fee.
