Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to our most asked questions including what you should wear on Soccer Island, information about inclement weather and more.

Where can my child participate in Soccer Shots?

Soccer Shots is held at childcare centers, preschools and schools, and public locations. Our public programs are open to the general public, while our childcare center and school programs are only open to those enrolled at that school or center.

What can I expect from a Soccer Shots session?

Soccer Shots is a weekly 30-minute soccer session that teaches the game of soccer by focusing on basic skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting. The session is broken up into five sections: warm-up, skill, fun game, score a goal, and a scrimmage (modified for the younger ones). Through these fun games and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active!

What equipment will my child need to participate?

Your child doesn’t need any special equipment – comfy clothes and sneakers are fine. Cleats and shin guards are not necessary, but you are more than welcome to wear them. Our coaches will provide all the equipment needed at each session – soccer balls, goals, etc., and all you need to bring is a water bottle.

Will my child have the same coach for the duration of the season?

We understand consistency is very important at this age, and we do all we can to ensure the same coach remains for the duration of the season. However, there are sometimes situations out of our control where we will need to send a substitute coach in order to keep the season on track. If this does happen, we will notify you all ahead of time.

Will I receive a Soccer Shots jersey?

We have switched to a central jersey distribution center. Jerseys are mailed out once per year when the annual enrollment fee is paid, and will be shipped from our distribution center. This resets each fall season. For all jersey questions - sizes, returns, etc., please email: [email protected].

What happens when there is inclement weather?

Charlotte weather can be tricky with storms popping up last second, and if a session is canceled, we'll do our best to update you as soon as we can via an email and a text message. Cancelled sessions will be made up by adding 15 minutes to the following two sessions. We've found this to be the easiest way to handle make up sessions while keeping the season on track to finish on time. We will make up a maximum of two weather cancellations.

Can I have Soccer Shots start a public program near me?

Yes! We are always willing to start a public program near you. The easiest way for this to happen is for you to form a group of eight children willing to take part in a Soccer Shots season. These could be children from your neighborhood, friends from church or synagogue, or your parent groups. We're happy to help talk through ideas on how to make this happen.
