Anthony is a professional soccer player, a gifted soccer teacher, and a kid enthusiast! He played for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, the area’s professional soccer team, before retiring in 2012. He played professionally for eight years. Anthony played at Penn State University, making it to the Elite 8 and winning a Big Ten Championship. Anthony has coached high school, middle school and club soccer and has worked with thousands of youth soccer players as a Soccer Shots instructor. In addition to playing and coaching soccer, Anthony has a degree in elementary education from Penn State. Anthony is an active member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Pittsburgh Association for the Education of Young Children (PAEYC). Above everything else is that Anthony loves being able to positively impact kids through the game of soccer!
Carla graduated from Grove City College in 2011 with a B.A. in History and a minor in Political Science; she spent the summers of her college years working with children as the Day Camp Director and Playground Program Director for the Penn-Trafford Area Recreation Commission. After college, Carla gained experience in a variety of fields including human resources, administrative support, financial research, and non-fiction writing & editing. A Pittsburgh native, Carla grew up playing soccer for local clubs including Foothills, Penns Forest, Hotspurs, Allegheny Force FC, Arsenal, and the Barbarian Football Coalition. In high school, she captained WPIAL champion and two-time state runner-up Greensburg Central Catholic. At the collegiate level, Carla played varsity and intramural soccer as well as club ultimate frisbee. She enjoys being active and is an avid participant in a local adult learn-to-play ice hockey program. Carla is an advocate for instilling self-esteem, exceptional character, and a love for physical activity in children.
Coach Cassidy is originally from Slate Lick, Pennsylvania but spent 7 years in Raleigh, North Carolina where she attended North Carolina State University and worked for Soccer Shots RDU. She moved back to the Pittsburgh area so that she could be closer to her family. She and her husband, Jon, now live in Freeport. She has two dogs, Cash and Roger, and a miniature horse, named Silverado. In her spare time, you can find her in a hockey rink watching her husband coach, reading or spending time with family. Coach Cassidy is looking forward to meeting all of her new friends and watching them grow!
I am Coach Kim! I am a mom of 3, former HS math teacher, and lover of all things health and fitness. When I am not working, you can find me training for some type of endurance race, playing with my kids, tutoring, or cooking something new! Soccer has been a passion of mine for a very long time. I was able to play in high school, college, and then until I started having kids. The life lessons I learned and the friendships I made through soccer still thrive. My love for the beautiful game runs deep, and I am thrilled to be able to share all this sport has to offer!
Maureen graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Child Studies. She has worked in early education since 2012 and has a passion for teaching young children. She loves the ways in which Soccer Shots celebrate each child and teaches lessons that expand way beyond the field.
Hello! My name is Hershell Hutson and I am from Parkersburg, WV. I have loved the game of soccer ever since I began playing when I was 4 years old. I have played and coached many different levels of the game over the years. My love for the game has led me to wanting to impact the youth and give them the best experience they can have. I want my passion for the game to rub off on those around me. I also graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Athletic Coaching and a minor in Sports Communication. I look forward to using my experience and education to help impact everyone at Soccer Shots!

Hello everyone! I am Coach Haley! I am a recent graduate of Slippery Rock University with a degree in Physical Activity and Fitness Management. I grew up playing soccer and ice hockey as my main sports. When I’m not coaching or playing sports I love to rock climb, hike, play the guitar, and go to the gym!
Hello everyone! My name is Rachael Paholich. I played soccer throughout high school and college and I am still playing today! Now I have the pleasure of coaching my 2 daughters' soccer teams. I love to garden, cook, and play games with my family. Recently, we have discovered Pickleball! I look forward to having the opportunity to share my passion for the game with everyone on Soccer Island!
Coach John is originally from the UK & has been involved in coaching soccer in his community since 2007 & has been a certified FIFA Referee since 2011. He is an avid fan of the sport for what it teaches us about the importance of teamwork & building friendships. John has recently retired from a career in learning & development & teaching & is very excited about passing on his passion for the game to your children through the Soccer Shots program.
Hello! My name is Chris Schutte and I have lived my entire life here in Pittsburgh. I am blessed to be the father of 3 young, very active sons and the foster parent to an outstanding young man who recently graduated from the culinary program at IUP. I am thrilled to finally return to Soccer Island with my friends while we all get back to a little bit of normalcy! I love coaching here at Soccer Shots because it combines my passion for sports and my love of working with children. Being involved with sports since I was a child has taught me valuable lessons about commitment, dedication, effort and teamwork that I still apply to my life on a daily basis, and I look forward to helping your children learn these same values while we have lots of fun!
My name is Coach Steve and I am excited to get to know everyone. I am an IT professional who has taken an interest in soccer through my kids. I have three girls and one boy who have all been through or are currently in Soccer Shots programs. Two of the girls are now playing on school teams as well. Four kids have taught me a lot but I learn more everyday. Now it will be my pleasure to help pass on some of that soccer knowledge to you.
Hi, I am Coach Jason. Growing up, I played football, baseball, and track. My daughter started playing soccer at age 3 and I have been in love with the game since. I am a volunteer coach, certified referee, and board member at my local club. I enjoy teaching the skills needed for the game, but more importantly, the life lessons and skills that come along with playing soccer. In my free time, I enjoy distance running and volunteering with groups in my community.
Hi everyone, my name is Gracie Voigt! I played soccer from age 3 all the way up through high school. I have been a Soccer Shots coach since December of 2022 and absolutely love the sport. I graduated from Ohio University and now work as an HR Manager for an Auto Parts company. In my free time I enjoy hiking, exploring Pittsburgh, and going out to eat with my boyfriend! Hi, my name is Lexi! I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, and soccer has always been a huge part of my life. I attended college at Ohio State University and the University of Pittsburgh, and I now work in the child life department at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh! I started playing soccer at the age of 4 and played through high school, and I even had the opportunity to train with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Academy during that time. Hi, I'm Allison! During the day time I am the director for positive school wide behaviors at an alternative education school. What got me interested in Soccer Shots was getting back into soccer fun! And to find something worthwhile when my son is at his long hockey practices. I love traveling to new and fun cities with my son for all three of his travel teams.
My name is Jason and I'm a soccer coach with a diverse background in sports and fitness. I'm passionate about helping young athletes reach their goals and I'm always looking for ways to help them improve their skills. I've been involved in many sports, including basketball, baseball, and many others, and I'm always eager to learn new techniques and strategies. I'm also a certified fitness instructor and I'm always looking for ways to help my athletes stay in shape. As a teenager I started coaching soccer while playing for my high school soccer team. I've coached soccer for both my son's in-house and travel teams. My name is Kimber and I’m really excited to be coaching with Soccer Shots. I recently moved from Minnesota where I coached varsity boys soccer for 2 years and played in a recreation league for 4 years. I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old and it’s been my favorite sport ever since. I also enjoy watching soccer with a few of my favorite teams being the US Women’s National Team, Manchester City, and the Chicago Red Stars. I have a passion for working with kids (I’m a special education teacher) and I feel that many valuable lessons/skills can be learned through soccer.

My name is Mia and I have been playing soccer since I was three years old. I played soccer all four years of high school and continued to play recreationally in college. I graduated from Slippery Rock University and now attend the University of Pittsburgh as a graduate student. My hobbies include spending time with family, hanging out with friends, playing the guitar, trying out all different kinds of sports, and eating food. I have coached high school basketball and serve as the children’s youth ministry worship leader at my local church. I love kids and soccer so I was drawn to Soccer Shots! Hi everyone! I’m coach Emma and I’ve recently moved to Pittsburgh after completing my degree and am loving the city! I currently work at a preschool and teach Soccer Shots in the evenings. Hi, I am Coach Heath. I am the father of two daughters. GIRL DAD! My oldest daughter started with Soccer Shots at two years old. My experience with Soccer Shots as a parent sparked my interest in becoming a coach! I have always been a kid at heart who loves to play outdoors. There are many valuable lessons to be learned from youth sports, but most importantly create a positive, fun and safe environment for the children to learn patience and respect for others.
Hello, I am Coach Hilarie. I am graduate of Slippery Rock University. I am a Elementary and Special Education Teacher by trade but recently decided to take some time out of the classroom. I grew up playing soccer and hold the sport close to my heart. I enjoy playing soccer with my family and friends as well as watching my 3 young children play. When im not playing soccer or spending time with family I enjoy riding horses. I look forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the season. We will learn soccer skills, sportsmanship, and most importantly have fun and get active!
Maci Caster Maci found her passion for soccer at the age of four. From there she played for numerous travel teams, her high school team ( Trinity), Victory Express, and then her college team (Bethany College). Once college was finished the passion for Maci was still there, she coach for Trinity Middle School Girls, which continued on to travel and Indoor seasons as well. Off of the soccer field Maci is a teacher in West Virginia, more specifically a reading specialist. Before starting her career as a Teacher she worked at a daycare, where she found soccer shots.
My name is Zylan! I am a high school student, and am very involved in many of its clubs and programs. I specifically love my high school's pre-k program where I am a preschool teacher for part of the day. I love working with children and making them happy. My hobbies include working out and spending time with my family.
My name is Nicole Szabo and I have played soccer from the time I was 5 years old through my senior year of high school at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School. I am currently studying Occupational Therapy at Duquesne University, with the hopes to work with pediatrics upon graduation. In my free time, I enjoy fishing, traveling, and anything outdoors. I am Coach Mikaela! I am a Child Life Specialist at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and a grad student at Pitt. I played soccer from when I was a toddler through the end of high school, as well as doing college intramurals. I also love working with kids, so I am excited to coach and bring that joy of sports to young kids and have fun with them. I enjoy running, spin classes, and hiking. I also enjoy being crafty!
Hello, I am Coach Sam! I am a director at FC Pittsburgh Soccer Club, I also work at La Roche University as the Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach. My hobbies include coaching, watching, and playing soccer, as well as spending time with my son. I am originally from England and played soccer at a high level there. Now, I love working with younger children not only to develop their soccer skills, but to also help them develop mentally and physically as well as socially.
Coach Ricardo is from Brazil, and he is a former soccer player. He started playing futsal when he was 10 years old and moved to the professional team “Paulistano” in Sao Paulo, Brazil when he was 15 years old. A few years later, he had the opportunity to be one of the players to represent his hometown in the state national tournament. Coach Ricardo is a Doctor in Physical Therapy and specialist in sports medicine. He worked with kids with special needs and disabilities to improve their movement and balance. In 2006, Mr Rocardo came to Pittsburgh to pursue his PhD in Rehabilitation Science at University of Pittsburgh. Besides coaching, Ricardo is a research scientist and works to develop a treatment to combat muscle injuries and improve fast recovery. During his free time, he likes to play soccer, tennis, and enjoy moments with family. His goal is to bring respect, positivity, and motivation to other kids.
Hello, I am Coach Morgan! I'm an Interior Designer for a local Kitchen & Bath showroom. I am also a Soccer Shots parent and loved what Soccer Shots is all about, I jumped at the chance to be a coach! I got involved with soccer in high school with a group at my church. I was on my high school team as goalkeeper during my junior and senior years. I continued to play in college as a defensive midfielder. My hobbies include crafting, painting and home improvement projects.
Hello, I’m Coach Kelsey! I have two kids, my oldest loves Soccer Shots. I think this is a great program and I want to support the growth of soccer in my local community, so I came on as a coach! I work full time as an orthopaedic physician assistant. My motto for 2024 was to ‘try new things!’ So far, I have taken up reading/audio books during my work commute, started a tiny flower garden, cycling, and now will become a soccer coach! Hi everyone, my name is Coach Jordan. I work full time as an Email Marketing Specialist. I have played soccer for about 16 years (4 years old - 19 years old) - from little kickers to a D3 collegiate athlete at Penn State Behrend. Soccer was a huge part of shaping me into the person I am today and while loving the game is a massive part of it, I also always wanted to work with kids. In my free time, I love to spend time with the people closest to me, go cheer on our Pittsburgh sports teams, exercise/run, and I play in an adult kickball league (2x CHAMPS) that keeps me active!
I’m Coach Lauren! My weekday job is working in a breast cancer research lab at the University of Pittsburgh. I started playing soccer in my hometown's 2 year old program and played through middle school (My teenage rebellion was switching to tennis in highschool). I was looking for something to get me moving and active in the community and I've always enjoyed working with young kids so Soccer Shots seemed perfect! I'm an avid reader and crafter. I moved to Pittsburgh a few months ago from the south so it's my first winter somewhere where it snows! I didn't even own a winter coat before moving but I'm adjusting pretty well!
I’m Coach Will! Outside of Soccer Shots, I’m involved in my mom’s accounting business, and National Honors Society at my school. I have been playing soccer for 14 years! I really love the game. Everyday I step on the pitch, I feel a sign of relief and freedom! I play club soccer at Steel City. I have always wanted to coach soccer and Soccer Shots was a great opportunity I just couldn’t pass. I always wanted to make sure young kids have the ability to grow as a soccer player and can become the best version of themselves! Some of my hobbies are hanging out with friends and family, driving, playing soccer, and I love to golf in the summer!

Hello! My name is Billy Finnerty aka Coach Billy. I am a Middle School Health/PE Teacher with the South Fayette Township School District where I also coach high school and middle school track & field. I have a passion for working with kids of all ages, especially in the athletics world. Athletics, especially soccer, have been a part of my life for more than 25 years. I have coached with Soccer Shots for five seasons and I have absolutely fallen in love with it! The enjoyment on the faces of the children each week is the most rewarding part of being a coach. Hi everyone, I'm Coach Lucy. I am currently a student at Kutztown University where I am studying to be a teacher for the visually impaired. I started playing rec soccer around 3-4 years old. I also started refereeing soccer as soon as I was allowed and it was my first job! My dad has been a coach for Soccer Shots (Coach Jason Cooper!) for a few years and I love working with kids. I decided to coach to get more experience working with kids and because I love soccer.

Hi! I'm Coach Jen and I've been a coach with Soccer Shots since 2015. I grew up in South Park and currently reside in the South Hills. I started playing soccer when I was 5 and continued to play through college and as an adult in Co Ed leagues throughout Pittsburgh. I enjoy having an impact on young children and introducing them to the sport I love.
